Chart - Caleb Bruther

Bruther brothers Caleb and Charles arrived in America from Germany in the mid 1800s and settled in Jefferson County, IN. Loretta Elizabeth Bruther, the granddaughter of Caleb Bruther, married Willard Totten Wakefield in 1922.

FIRST GENERATION

1. Caleb BRUTHER was born on November 3, 1832 in Badeu, Germany. He immigrated 1854 from Germany. He died on December 31, 1905 and was buried in Bethel Cemetary, Jefferson County, IN.

He was married to Emily BURGTAL on October 13, 1858 in Jefferson County, IN. Emily BURGTAL was born on March 22, 1842 in Indiana. She died on December 19, 1922 in Jefferson County, IN and was buried in Bethel Cemetary, Jefferson County, IN. She was listed as 36 years old in 1880 census. That would mean she was born in 1843 or 1844. Caleb BRUTHER and Emily BURGTAL had the following children:

She was married to Joshua M. TULL on December 24. She was divorced from Joshua M. TULL in 1905.

She was married to John L. PHEASANT on November 2, 1910.

4. Lewis N. BRUTHER was born on November 19, 1861 in Indiana. He died on December 27, 1891.

He was married to Grace A. MISKELL on July 28, 1889 in Jefferson County, IN.

5. Alice BRUTHER was born on June 25, 1863 in Indiana. She died in May 1957.

She was married to Charles D. BAIN on August 5, 1880.

7. Jesse F. BRUTHER was born on December 19, 1867 in Jefferson County, IN. He died on April 10, 1950. He was buried in Old Bethel Cemetary, Hanover, IN.

He was married to Elizabeth "Lizzie" LOWRY (daughter of Harvey LOWERY ) on March 23, 1892 in Jefferson County, IN. Elizabeth "Lizzie" LOWRY was born on March 23, 1872 in Indiana. She died in April 1964. Jesse F. BRUTHER and Elizabeth "Lizzie" LOWRY had the following children:

11. David BRUTHER was born on September 29, 1878. He died on September 6, 1946. He was not with Caleb Bruther household in 1880 census.

13. Charles BRUTHER was born on November 4, 1881. He died on February 15, 1922.

He was married to Bertha May ELDRIDGE on September 10, 1907. Charles BRUTHER and Bertha May ELDRIDGE had the following children:
