Jesse F. Wakefield's Enlistment Photograph
When you finally join the military one of the first things you do is get a photograph of yourself in uniform for yourself but mostly for your family back home. Often the uniform is only a "half" uniform just large enough to accommodate the photograph. This photograph of Jesse Farris Franklin Wakefield from 1943 is likely one of those photographs. His enlistment, at the time of this photograph, is likely just beginning.

Perhaps you might be interested in Walter Jackson Wakefield, born 2-26-1889. He was married to Martha Jane Ward. Residence was Winston County, Probaly Delmar or Lynn - close to Haleyville. Martha was descended from Joseph Marion Ward - sheriff. He was a founder of the Tories of the Hills because Winston County remained Union throughout the Civil War. His story can be looked up on the net.
