Revolutionary War Pension File Abstracts

The following are abstracts from Revolutionary War Pension Files.

  • Wakefield, Abel - VA Line, S3475, soldier was b 21 Jan 1764, soldier lived in Fairfax County, VA and afterwards moved to Stokes County, NC then moved to Abbeville District, SC then moved to Franklin County, IN then moved to Bartholomew County, IN then moved to Lawrence County, TN where he applied 8 Jan 1833. [Interpretation: Abel was one of the Wakefields that migrated from SC to IN. He could be James Wakefield's father, grandfather, or uncle.]
  • Wakefield, Thomas - NC Line, Jemima, W1107, soldier was b 5 Oct 1762 in Albermarle County, VA, soldier lived in Burke County, NC at enlistment and in 1816 moved to Franklin County, TN and he applied there 26 Nov 1832, soldier m Jemima Griffin 9 Sep 1825 in Franklin County, TN, soldier d 17 Sep 1849, widow applied 17 Feb 1853 in Franklin County, TN aged 87.
  • Wakefield, Henry – NC Line, Mary, W35, soldier was a son of Charles and Elizabeth Wakefield and was born in May, 1752 in Albemarle County, VA and he lived in Burke County, NC at enlistment and in 1796 or 1797 he moved to Sumner County, TN then moved to Smith County, TN where he applied 28 Aug 1832, soldier had married 1st to Elizabeth daughter of William and Elizabeth Alexander on 20 Mar 1778 and soldier married 2nd Mary --- 25 Oct 1791 in Burke County, NC, soldier died 13 Nov 1850 in Smith County, TN and his widow applied 30 Sept 1851 in Macon County, TN which was formerly a part of Smith County, TN, soldier's and widow's children were: Agness born 25 Dec 1792, Isabella born 8 Dec 1794, Henry born 6 Jun 1796, Simpson 6 Mar 1799, twins John and Alexander born 22 Aug 1801, Silas Burkes born 12 May 1807, James Matison born 13 May 1811, Polly born 26 Jan 1814, and Thomas Jefferson born 12 Aug 1816, in 1837 the son Silas B Wakefield "an attorney" was of Smith County, TN, in 1852 the son James M. Wakefield was of Macon County, TN, in 1851 one James Simpson aged 82 of White County, TN stated he was a near relative of soldier's widow Mary --- Wakefield.
