Wakefields referenced in Morgan, Monroe, and Brown Counties in Indiana

The following are entries for Wakefield in the book Morgan, Monroe, and Brown Counties in Indiana.

In the History of Morgan County (on page 21) the name J. W. Wakefield appears. The name is listed with others assessed a poll tax in Clay Township in, what is believed to be, 1819.

In the History of Monroe County (on page 377) the name John Wakefield appears. The name is listed with others who were members of the first petit jury for the First Circuit Court of Monroe County. The date of the jury was likely to have taken place in June of 1818.

In the History of Monroe County (on page 587) the name James Wakefield appears. The name is associated with a land entry in Salt Creek Township. James purchased land in Section 31 of the township in 1836. Also in the land entries of Salt Creek Township is a reference to J. W. Wakefield as a resident of the township but he was deliquent in the payment of his taxes.
